Board Members

Madeleine Rackley, Board President

Madeleine Rackley is currently a Senior Administrative Analyst II with the City of Los Angeles. Ms. Rackley is Chair of the Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission of the City of West Hollywood. She is in her first year as President of the Metropolitan Master Chorale and is a past President of the Santa Monica Chorus. In addition, she served on the Board of the Royal Scottish Dance Society Los Angeles Branch where she has danced for sixteen years. She is a professional photographer and plays the piano. As President of the MMC, she develops the annual budget, directs public relations and marketing plans, works to increase recruitment and retention and collaborates with other arts organizations.

Catherine M. Schuster, Vice President and Secretary

Catherine Schuster came to choral music relatively late in life and has been happily singing now since 2005. As a founding member of the Metropolitan Master Chorale, she has contributed to creating the organization’s bylaws; developing and maintaining databases for members, donors and sponsors; managing membership and the music library; and organizing major fundraising events. As principal of Schuster Consulting, Ms. Schuster has extensive experience in strategic planning, business process improvement, and management and organizational development services for the public sector, non-profits, and higher education. Ms. Schuster is a second generation native of the greater Los Angeles area. She holds a BA in Comparative Literature from Scripps College in Claremont and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management.

Reid Swanson, Treasurer

Reid Swanson holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music degrees in Music Education. He also pursued postgraduate work in Music Education at Northwestern University. He has 25 years of experience as a music teacher (piano, vocal, instrumental and general music) and 35 years of experience singing in community and semi-professional choral groups. For more than 30 years he has served within his church as a member of various committees involved in fundraising, program development and strategic planning, and also as Congregational President and a member of the Board of Trustees. He is currently a Senior Human Resources Development Coordinator at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Ngoc Hoang, Director

Ngoc Hoang graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. While at USC, her extracurricular activities included singing and business managing Reverse Osmosis A Cappella and interning at several record labels and public relations firms. Upon graduation, Ms. Hoang worked as a freelance publicist for local and touring independent singer-songwriters, which led to her current position at Direct Management Group, where she handles publicity and touring logistics for artists such as k.d. lang, Katy Perry, Lizz Wright and Gabe Dixon.

Glenn Carlos, Ex Officio and Artistic Director

Glenn Carlos has more than 28 years of experience conducting, performing, teaching voice, composing, arranging and recording. Throughout his career, Mr. Carlos has demonstrated his knowledge of and appreciation for diverse musical genres, including early, Classical and contemporary. Mr. Carlos is Director of Chorale Activities at Los Angeles Valley College. He teaches voice and conducts several ensembles. He is also a consultant for the Grammy Awards Foundation.

Dorothy Rackley, Development Director

Dorothy Rackley, President of Rhémar International, has extensive experience identifying, writing and submitting successful private, corporate and government grants for non-profit arts organizations. She was the first Director of Development at Utah Festival Opera Company. Ms. Rackley is a management consultant for new and evolving companies including non-profit arts organizations. She creates business plans that address a company’s legal structure, its ownership and management decision-making, financial forecasts, product development, marketing and customer relations. She works with employees to achieve business goals and objectives, with emphasis on evaluating and adjusting priorities with company development.

Nancy Dodge Reinisch, Director

Nancy Reinisch is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in Los Angeles. She enjoys community service, especially involving youth. Currently, Ms. Reinisch volunteers at HOLA (Heart of Los Angeles) as a counselor to children and adolescents. She is also developing an internship program at HOLA for Social Work students that includes clinical skill building and community organization. In addition to being a member of the Board, Ms. Reinisch sings with Metropolitan Master Chorale and coordinates fundraising events for the organization.
