Board Members

Catherine M. Schuster, Board President

Catherine Schuster has been singing in choral groups since 2005 and was the founding Vice President of the Metropolitan Master Chorale where she has organized major fundraising events, developed the MMC’s music library and patron database, and designed the graphics and layout for MMC programs. Early in her career, Ms. Schuster worked with a number of nonprofit organizations including KUSC and the Young Musicians Foundation. As a management consultant who has managed her own practice, Ms. Schuster has extensive experience in strategic planning, organization development, and business process improvement services for the nonprofit and public sectors. She holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management.

Madeleine Rackley, Vice President, Development

Madeleine Rackley serves on the West Hollywood Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission where she chairs the Performing Arts and Cultural Affairs Subcommittee. She was the founding President of the Metropolitan Master Chorale for two years. In addition, Ms. Rackley was recently invited to join the Advisory Board to the Sound of Cypress Orchestra. She has also served as Board President of the Hollywood Master Chorale and the Santa Monica Chorus. In 2009, she was elected to the Board of the West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation where she has worked with the Public Outreach and Operations Committees. Ms. Rackley is a Senior Administrative Analyst with the City of Los Angeles.

Reid Swanson, Treasurer

Reid Swanson holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music degrees in Music Education. He also pursued postgraduate work in Music Education at Northwestern University. He has 25 years of experience as a music teacher (piano, vocal and instrumental) and 35 years of experience singing in choral groups. Mr. Swanson worked in development and marketing for the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. He has also worked for more than 30 years within his church and for other nonprofit organizations in fundraising, program development and strategic planning. Mr. Swanson is currently a Senior Human Resources Development Coordinator at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Tripp Mills, Secretary

Tripp Mills has broad management experience in the nonprofit sector with notable organizations such as the LA Gay & Lesbian Center, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the Hollywood Community Housing Corporation and most recently as the Director of Resident Services at West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation. He has successfully authored grants from major federal and state agencies and private foundations. Mr. Mills graduated in Theatre Arts from Trinity Rep Conservatory at Brown where he studied voice and music under Tony-Award-winning composer and lyricist Barbara Damashek.

Robert W. Davis, Communications

Robert Davis has extensive choral singing experience including the UCLA Men’s Glee Club, UCLA Concert Choir, Pasadena City College Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Hollywood Master Chorale (a group he helped found and where he served for two years as Board President) and the Metropolitan Master Chorale. As an MMC Board Member, Mr. Davis draws upon 14 years in the desktop publishing and printing business to provide direction regarding printing costs and materials and to edit and annotate music using Finale. Mr. Davis is a Registered Nurse at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Dorothy D. Rackley, Grants

Dorothy Rackley, President of Rhémar International, is a management consultant for new and evolving companies, including nonprofit arts organizations. Ms. Rackley creates business plans that address a company’s legal structure, ownership obligations, management and staff priorities, financial forecasts and nonprofit/tax-deductible status. She works with employees to achieve business goals and objectives, with emphasis on evaluating and adjusting priorities with company development. Ms. Rackley has extensive experience identifying, writing and submitting successful private, corporate and government grants for nonprofit organizations. She was the first Director of Development at the Utah Festival Opera Company.

Glenn Carlos, Ex Officio and Artistic Director

Glenn Carlos is Assistant Professor and Director of Choral Activities at Los Angeles Valley College. He has also held teaching and conducting posts at the University of Southern California and California State University, Long Beach. Throughout his 30 years of conducting, performing, teaching voice, composing, arranging and recording, Mr. Carlos has demonstrated his expertise in diverse musical genres, including early, classical and contemporary. He has consulted for the Grammy Awards Foundation. In addition, he has been featured as a soloist with and prepared choirs for David Foster, Diane Warren, Michael Feinstein, Dave Brubeck and Shelly Berg.

His published original compositions and arrangements are available through UNC Press and Yelton Rhodes Music. Mr. Carlos is frequently invited to appear as a guest clinician and adjudicator for high schools and colleges throughout California. He is a member of the American Chorale Directors Association.
