Carl Jacobs - Bass



Carl David Jacobs began singing as an undergraduate at UC Berkeley where he joined the Glee Club and performed with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus. While tapering down from a full-time management consulting career, Carl began studying voice seriously and received an associate’s degree in music from Los Angeles Valley College. He also studied Jewish music, receiving a master’s degree in Jewish Studies at the Academy for Jewish Religion California focusing on cantorial music and becoming a cantorial soloist. As a cantor, Carl has had his own congregation for the past seven years. He has sung with the San Fernando Valley Master Chorale, the Los Robles master Chorale, the Pierce College Encore Singers, the AJU Chorale, the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony’s Community Chorale, the California Philharmonic and the Lawyers Symphony. He formed the Midweek Groove Jazz Band which performed for festivals, fundraisers and various private events. He has sung solos, premiered new works and performed at Disney Hall. He studied voice with Glenn Carlos and Richard Fredericks from the Metropolitan Opera and the New York City Opera. Carl is also a former trumpet player.
